Guardian guide.

I had two illustrations published in the Guardian and Observer over the weekend. Two really nice guides on drawing and painting. Photography Nick Ballon.

Sew and sew.

I plan on doing a piece of sewing a day for the next week. Nothing planned or thought out. Just seeing where my hands take me and my needle.

Numero 4

I started a series of screen prints all based on number a wee while ago. Here is number 4. I'm going to buy my very own screen and get printing at home. I'm really rather excited about it.

Untitled.

Long time no see. But I'm back now. Here are some visual treats that have caught my eye recently.
The first picture is Susumu Koshimizu's 'From surface to surface'. I liked the number of ways she had carved wood. Tactile perfection.

I also loved Robert Morris' felt piece. Though this isn't the piece I saw, it gives you an idea anyway. He worked by cutting into industrial felt. The way it hung was beautiful and didn't look like textiles at all really.

Robert Smithson had some beautiful landscape photography with a twist. His 'Ithaca mirror trail' was really special. I like the idea of seeing two things at once. It's a strange idea looking in front and behind at the same time whilst outside. We're so used to that feeling inside, but somehow being outside with the elements brings something new.
I then spotted Jan Dibbets 'Panorama' piece. It's got a dream like quality about it which I really liked.
